Folsom Prison Blues  @Singer's Club Live

A big thanks to Kevin Fry and Singer's Club Live for having me on their show. Here's a clip of my cover of Johnny Cash's classic song, "Folsom Prison Blues." This was a fun night!

Burnout (Martha)

Here's the song I wrote about my 4th Great Grandma in Pioche, Nevada back in 1872.

She raised 9 kids, but the two youngest daughters found themselves in some trouble with a man named Frank. As it turns out, this man was dating both girls without the other knowing, and he managed to get both of them pregnant. When the girls confessed (separately) to their mother, Martha put it all together.

Frank refused to see either girl again, and Martha wasn't really impressed by that, so she drove out to his ranch, set the barn on fire, and burned it down.

Since there wasn't much law enforcement anyway, and Martha had exposed Frank, he packed up his belongings the next day, sold what he could (what was left after the fire), and took off for Montana.

I still haven't been able to track down what happened to him after that.

But I guess that's not really the point of the story anyway, is it?

Enjoy!

One Black Sheep

This is a song I wrote about my ancestor Andrew Aagard. There were too many great stories to fit into one song, so I did my best to create just one musical snapshot of this man.  He was a hardworking man who didn't believe much in handouts, but he did believe in lending a hand, and helping others become self-sufficient.

The Mother - Brandi Carlile Cover

This is one of my favorite songs. Brandi Carlile wrote it about the challenges, but also the joys, of raising her daughter.

The House That Built Me (Cover)

One of my favorite country songs to listen to, play, and sing.

In Loving Memory

Last November, I was hired to write a song for this spec commercial by Evok Media and Brooklight. They even gave me the opportunity to star in the commercial. It was a ton of fun being on a film set, and I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Clint Brooks and Ryan Chai.
